The Boys & Girls Club of Lynden is a Branch Club within the organization of Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County. The program currently serves 383 members. The Club provides a safe place for kids to be in the after-school hours. During the school year, all of our Club members receive a snack, help with homework, a games room to play in, playtime in organized outside sports, use of the Club’s laptop computers, and other daily programming opportunities.
We are very thankful to Sonlight Community Christian Church for providing the space in which the Club provides Boys & Girls Club daily programming.

Fee Based Programs:
Calling All Early Birds!
The Boys & Girls Club of Lynden offers a before school program. This is a fee based program opening at 7:00 am and running until school starts. Transportation to school and a light breakfast is included. Twenty visits for $100.00 or $10.00 per day for drop-in.

Early Dismissal Program
For the 2011-2012 membership year the Boys & Girls Club of Lynden will be open on early dismissal days only for Club members who have signed up and have paid the early dismissal program fee of $10.00 in advance. A $5.00 late fee will be added if payment is not received prior to the date.
The Lynden Club will be closed to all other Club members who have not pre-registered and paid the early dismissal fee.
The Lynden School District has seven (7) early dismissal days planned through June of 2012. The next early dismissal day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 22nd, (Swimming at the YMCA) and Wednesday, May 23rd.
On early dismissal days the middle school will dismiss students at 12:00 pm and all three elementary schools will release students by 1:10 pm.
Please plan accordingly as space will be limited to 65 Club members for each early dismissal day. You may sign your child up now for early dismissal days at the Club.

Club Programs
The Boys & Girls Club of Lynden is currently offering the following programs to our Club members: Youth of the Year, Torch Club, Power Hour, SMART Girls, Arts & Crafts, Wise Guys, National Photography & Fine Arts contests, Running Club, Computer Lab, Cooking Club, organized games room, organized outside sports, special events, and numerous field trips.
Club Hours
Early Bird: 7:00 am - 9:00 am
After School: 2:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Late Pick-up Policy:

The Boys & Girls Club has operating hours, like every business. At closing time, the staff is instructed to clear, lock and secure the building and property and to leave the premises.

  1. It is the PARENT’S responsibility to know the Club hours and the Club calendar, including times of closures and any changes, special hours or days when the Club is not open.
  2. Fees are $1.00 per minute per child for every minute that the parent/designated person is late picking their child up. Late pick-up fee is due to Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County at the time of pick-up. The child may not return to the Club until the late fee is paid in full.
  3. After 20 minutes past closing time, the staff member may contact the local police department and/or Child Protective Services to assume custody of child.
  4. Chronic (three occurrences) late pick-up will result in the child’s membership being suspended / revoked determined by the Branch Director.

The safety and security of the child is paramount at all times.
 
 
Lynden Club Staff
Audrey Seaholm - Branch Director
Audrey has been with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County since January of 2004. Originally from Bainbridge Island she has lived in Lynden for the past seventeen years with her husband Jeff, who is a teacher at Lynden Middle School and their two children. Kate, is a sophomore at Lynden High School and Ben, is in 4th grade at Isom Elementary School. She is grateful to work for so many great kids in the Lynden community.
Elsha Grimes - Program Coordinator
Elsha started working for the Lynden Boys & Girls Club in September 2010. She received a double degree in Recreation Management and Business Administration from Eastern Washington University in 2009. After graduation she moved to Whatcom County for a new start. Elsha is a newleywed, married this past September. She loves interacting with kids and is excited to be working for a great organization like the Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County.
Kyle Elliott - Program Assistant, Early Bird
Kyle began working at the Boys & Girls Club of Lynden in September of 2010. He attends Western Washington University and is studying Elementary Education. Kyle is excited to begin his career working with children at the Lynden Club after extensive travel including living in Italy for a period of time.
Marissa Abundis - Program Assistant

Marissa’s connection with the Lynden Club began as a Club member eight years ago. She eventually became a volunteer and has been employed as a Program Assistant for nearly four years. She loves being with the kids whether she is helping with homework or playing a game of pool. Marissa graduated from Lynden High School this past June and is currently attending Whatcom Community College with plans to transfer to a university once she finishes her Associate’s Degree.

David Grambo - Program Assistant

David is a 2010 graduate of Lynden High School who is now attending Western Washington University.David plans to major in Biology and then plans to attend graduate school to become a dentist. For fun David loves to run and loves to play games.

Katie Murphy - Program Assistant, Early Bird
Katie is originally from Mammoth Lakes, California and moved to the Lynden area in 2001. She graduated from Lynden High School in 2007 and is a recent graduate from Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. Katie will be pursuing a career in dental hygiene with a background in biology. She loves spending time with children and is excited about this opportunity to work at the Boys & Girls Club.
Alexia Albano - Program Assistant
Alexia is a senior at Western Washington University and will be graduating in the spring of 2012 with a degree in Psychology. She likes to draw, hike, and play sports – especially soccer! Also her favorite teams are from Seattle. Go Seahawks, Mariners, and Sounders!!!
Brent Miller - Program Assistant
Brent is originally from Orange County, California but has lived in Lynden for the past three years. He is currently a junior at Lynden High School. Brent is on the swim team and also attends Whatcom Community College through the Running Start program. Brent is the youngest member on our staff and he is very excited for the coming year.
